Medical marijuana applications: Got to go to Little Rock

Local health units operated by the state of Arkansas will not handle applications for medical marijuana cards, a district manager tells a reporter for Areawide Media website, an online amalgamation of  Missouri papers The News, the South Missourian News and the Villager Journal. The site quotes Renee Brink, acting administrator for the Sharp County Health Unit:

“What we do is, when a customer comes in requesting information to apply for a card for medical marijuana, we’ve not had any training. This [an informational pamphlet] is all we have that we can give them and it’s basically the same thing that’s on their [the ADH] website,” Brink said. “Arkansas is one of the few states that still has a centralized Department of Health. Missouri is de-centralized and each unit stands on it’s own. They have a referring body but we are still under the branches of Little Rock and that’s why we’re a health Unit and not a health department.”
