GreenLight Little Rock to hold grand opening on Saturday September 2, 2022 By Griffin Coop GreenLight dispensaries will officially open its first Central Arkansas location when the newly acquired store on Kanis Road in Little Rock holds its grand opening tomorrow. The store, formerly known as CuraLeaf at 7303 Kanis Road, got new owners last month when the state Medical Marijuana Commission approved James Barnes and Matt Summitt to take over the dispensary. Barnes and Summitt bought the dispensary under the name GL Little Rock LLC and each owns half of the business. The Little Rock dispensary will be the fourth GreenLight location in the state after Helena-West Helena, West Memphis and Monticello, although Chris Kelley, who manages the Greenlight stores in Arkansas, said the Monticello store will soon be leaving the Greenlight umbrella. The Medical Marijuana Commission approved an ownership change for the Monticello location last month. The Kanis location has 7,300 square feet across two floors, Kelley said, with 3,700 square feet on the first floor and 3,600 square feet on the second floor. Kelley said the space has been renovated and the new look will be consistent with other Greenlight locations in Arkansas and throughout the country. Kelley said he has plans for the second floor of the building but wasn’t ready to “spill the beans” on the details. Kelley said the he anticipates the store’s interior will feature murals similar to the murals in GreenLight stores in other states such as West Virginia. Kelley said the store opened last week and has been offering “20% off the entire store” as a “Welcome to GreenLight” promotion. Kelley said Greenlight is looking forward to adding a store in the state’s capital city since the other stores have been in south and southeast parts of the state. “Now, we can bring the brand really to the forefront and try to be competitive in the Central Arkansas market,” he said. Greenlight will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
