Behind the cards: qualifying conditions June 10, 2022 By Griffin Coop This is the first in a series that examines the number of patients who hold medical marijuana ID cards in Arkansas The Arkansas Department of Health has issued a rising number of medical marijuana ID cards since the state began issuing the cards in 2018, including a record 120,885 last year, according to records from the agency. The number of cards issued last year nearly doubled the amount issued in 2019 and was considerably more than the 16,566 issued in 2019. Patients can qualify for the medical marijuana program if they have one of 18 qualifying conditions. According to data supplied by the agency, the top qualifying condition is intractable pain, which accounted for 32% of all cards. The second most common condition was Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, accounting for 30% of all cards.
